Monhegan Heroes Quell Overnight Blaze
The volunteer firefighters on Monhegan Island don’t see a lot of action, but just after midnight on Feb. 14, when the first structure fire on Monhegan Island in 22 years broke out, a crew of five firefighters pulled together and had the fire “totally out” when Bristol firefighters arrived on the island for mutual aid, said Jared Pendleton, Bristol First Assistant Fire Chief.

Marketplace Café Broken Into – Again
For the second time in less than three weeks, the Marketplace Café on Rt. 1 in Wiscasset was the victim of a late night robbery. According to Café manager Trina Lewis, the intruder or intruders entered through the rear of the building on Feb. 2 and made off with a cash register containing “loose” change totaling less than $100, she said.

Weather Alert – NWS Issues Bulletin Warning of ‘Slippery Travel’ on Tues.
At 10:51 a.m. on Tuesday the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Special Weather Statement warning of “slippery travel” in the afternoon and evening hours of Tuesday due to snowfall. The current forecast calls for 2-4 inches of snowfall on the ground by the time of the evening commute, according to the NWS.
