The Maine Supreme Judicial Court has decided in favor of Westport Island in a lengthy battle against two residents contesting the proposed public landing improvement project.

Waldoboro Voters Approve Municipal And School Budgets, Town Officials
Waldoboro voters approved a $3,692,100 budget for the year 2010, re-elected Rebecca Maxwell and Theodore Wooster to the Board of Selectmen and approved all articles on the town warrant at the annual town referendum vote on June 9.
Voters also approved $2.9 million as the town’s share for the Maine School Administrative District 40 budget for fiscal year 2010.

Somerville Builds New Storage Facility
The Quonset hut contributed to the Somerville Fire Dept. in honor of Fire Chief Mike Dostie’s son is near completion. Two separate firefighter crews pieced together the building on Saturday and Sunday, one metal section at a time, working with the Ladies Auxiliary, which provided coffee, donuts and lunch.

Waldoboro Man Facing Drug Charges Following June 12 Raid
A Waldoboro man is in custody following an early morning raid on his Friendship Rd. residence by state and local police June 12.
According to a statement from Waldoboro Police Chief Bill Labombarde, Geoffrey Merritt, 48, was arrested at the residence and transported to Two Bridges Regional jail.
