A storm that dropped every variety of precipitation on Lincoln County moved out according to the forecast schedule on Thurs., but not before delivering a final burst of wind and snowfall or rain. The departing weather burst was significant enough to warrant a special advisory from the National Weather Service (NWS) issued at 11:49 a.m. for the midcoast region warning of a band of heavy precipitation affecting the area between noon and 3 p.m. with snowfall up to 1 inch per hour, high winds and low visibility.

County Board Questions Cruiser Bid Process
Lincoln County commissioners have traditionally opened bids during regular public board meeting but its recent meeting saw a departure from the norm.
It became apparent during their Feb. 17 meeting before bids went out, a predetermined time and date at the Sheriff’s Office was set for opening and examining bids for four new police cruisers for the department, according to County Administrator John O’Connell.
“We didn’t see them (the bids) at all before they went out,” O’Connell said.
