Breaking News – Several Inches of Additional Snowfall Expected Before Daybreak – Power Restored in Areas of Newcastle, Edgecomb and Boothbay
A day-long storm on Sun. left a blanket of snowfall over inland areas of Lincoln County and a mix of snow, sleet and rain on coastal areas. More snowfall is expected before sunrise as yet another — albeit smaller — weather system is forecast to track through the area leaving an additional 2 to 5 inches of accumulation, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The NWS extended a Winter Storm Warning for Lincoln County from midnight until 4 a.m. in anticipation of the second wave of weather. The total snowfall forecast for both storms is expected to range between 8 to 11 inches along the midcoast, according to forecasts. Areas near the coast may have much lower totals as rainfall may have reduced snowfall amounts.

Auditors for Wiscasset’s 2008 finances said it would have been impossible to detect missing funds in past audits.
Auditors had to pour over financial statements starting from 2002 up through October when local law enforcement arrested Town Clerk Sandy Johnson and charged her with theft by deception. The town discovered the fraud by happenstance last October.
Breaking News – Forecast Snowfall Accumulation Raised – Local Totals at 4-5 Inches, So Far – Freeze Line Hovers Just Offshore – Power Outages Reported
(updated at 5:15 p.m.) Observers for the National Weather Service (NWS) reported snowfall accumulations of 5.3 inches in Bristol and 4.3 inches in Newcastle at 1:15 p.m. on Sun. as heavy snowfall continued to blanket Lincoln County. Those totals may reflect the half-way mark in a storm that is expected to linger in the area until midnight with 4-6 inches of additional accumulation in the forecast, according to the NWS. Meanwhile, radar images monitored at intellicast.com indicate that the freeze line for this storm is hovering just offshore of the Lincoln County coastline, and some of the local peninsulas may be experiencing sleet and freezing rain. Power outages were reported in some areas of Newcastle and Edgecomb following a traffic collision involving a power pole on Rt. 27, but reports from the scene indicate that the power lines were not affected.
