A day-long storm on Sun. left a blanket of snowfall over inland areas of Lincoln County and a mix of snow, sleet and rain on coastal areas. More snowfall is expected before sunrise as yet another — albeit smaller — weather system is forecast to track through the area leaving an additional 2 to 5 inches of accumulation, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The NWS extended a Winter Storm Warning for Lincoln County from midnight until 4 a.m. in anticipation of the second wave of weather. The total snowfall forecast for both storms is expected to range between 8 to 11 inches along the midcoast, according to forecasts. Areas near the coast may have much lower totals as rainfall may have reduced snowfall amounts.

Perhaps the most dangerous aspect of this storm is the possibility that coastal temperatures are forecast to creep up close to the 32-degree mark just as the heavy snowfall chugs through the area during the evening commute.
