Lee Schneller Sligh will present a program on Japanese gardens at the next meeting of the Garden Club of Wiscasset on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the First Congregational Church, 28 High St., Wiscasset. It will feature photos from recent trips to Japan as well as some pictures from gardens that Sligh has built in Maine.
Browntail Moth Presentation is Jan. 24 in Wiscasset
Learn the latest information about the pest called the browntail moth at a presentation by Maine Forest Service District Forester Morten Moesswilde on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. in the Wiscasset Municipal Building, 51 Bath Road, Wiscasset. Moesswilde will discuss identification and management of the browntail moth, which has infiltrated many Midcoast Maine communities, including Wiscasset.
St. Giles’ Schedules Free Supper for Feb. 3
St. Giles’ Episcopal Church, at 72 Gardiner Road in Jefferson, will host the second of its free 2018 wintertime suppers for Midcoast residents on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 5 p.m.
LCHA Winter Lectures on Sundays in February, March
Beginning Sunday, Feb. 4, the Lincoln County Historical Association will sponsor a series of four Sunday lectures by local artists and historians. The presentations will begin at 1 p.m. on Feb. 4, 11, and 25, and March 4 in the Lincoln County Communications Center behind the Lincoln County Courthouse in Wiscasset. Coffee and pastries will be served. The suggested donation is $5.

KELT Owl Prowl Coming Up Jan. 19
Kennebec Estuary Land Trust invites the public to explore the Carl and Barbara Segerstrom Preserve at Squam Creek on Westport Island for owls on Friday, Jan. 19 at 6 p.m. Led by Maine master naturalist Kit Pfeiffer, participants will walk the habitats of the preserve scouting for owls and exploring what makes these nocturnal birds so fascinating. This walk is appropriate for adults and children age 10 and older.

Beekeeping School Starting up in Damariscotta
One can discover the fascinating hobby of beekeeping by attending a 7-week course presented by experienced beekeepers from the Knox-Lincoln County Beekeepers and the Maine State Beekeepers Association, and Maine’s State Bee Inspector, who will provide one with basic information to get started as a beekeeper. This course is designed for first- and second-year beekeepers.
