The public is invited to a program called “A House Worth Saving: An Architectural & Archeological Investigation” on Monday, June 19 from 3-4 p.m. Tim Dinsmore, a historical archaeologist, will share his investigation of the former Constance Curley House in Damariscotta Mills.
Sheepscott Community Church Supper and Barbecue
From 5–7 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, Sheepscott Community Church will host a community supper and barbecue at its valley church, 8 The Kings Highway, Newcastle. Grilled meats, buns, homemade baked beans, and a variety of salads and sides, desserts, and beverages will be available. There will be inside and outside seating, weather permitting. A free-will offering is asked.
Rock the Harbor on June 16
The Olde Bristol Days fundraising committee is thrilled to announce the third annual Rock the Harbor event hosted by The Contented Sole restaurant in New Harbor on Friday, June 16, beginning at 5 p.m. Returning for the third year will be Portland’s finest reggae band, Stream Reggae; also joining the lineup will be an exciting local band, Diamond in the Rough.
Inn Along the Way Invites all to Summer Social
On Saturday, June 24, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Inn Along the Way in Damariscotta will hold its first summer social — and everyone is invited. Among the planned activities spread out over the 32 acres of Chapman Farm, at 741 Main St. in Damariscotta, will be farm wagon rides; kite flying with the Nor’easter Kite Club, weather permitting; a picnic corner; lemonade, Round Top ice cream, and baked goodies in the farmhouse’s summer kitchen. There will be a chance to meet Apifera Farm’s sweet donkey and goat, and more.
Outboard Motor Talks at Railway Village
On Tuesday, June 20 and on Wednesday, June 21, outboard motor historian Larry Stevenson will present two talks exploring major innovations in outboard motor design in the early 20th century.
Free Fishing Weekend is June 3 and 4
Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife is encouraging everyone to get out on Maine’s waters to take advantage of free fishing days. Free fishing weekend will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 3 and 4, when any person may fish for free without a license on Maine’s waterways, except those who have had their license suspended or revoked. All other rules and regulations, including bag and possession limits, apply.
Sunflower Celebration Fundraiser Helps Fight Human Trafficking
For one night only this summer, Darrows Barn at Round Top Farm in Damariscotta will be transformed into a celebration of all things Thai in honor of a local organization that helps young women from Northern Thailand escape the threat of human trafficking.
Rescheduled Pemaquid Pond Preserve Grand Opening is June 10
Pemaquid Watershed Association will host a grand opening celebration at Pemaquid Pond Preserve in Bremen, one of its newest nature preserves, on Saturday, June 10 from 11 a.m. to noon.
Free Movie Day at GSB
The movie “Before the Flood” will be shown on Sunday, June 11 at 2 p.m. at Great Salt Bay Community School in Damariscotta. Admission is free, and popcorn and drinks will be provided.
Learning About Ferns at HVNC
Ferns are among the most diverse plants to be found adorning the forest floor in midsummer. They occupy a wide range of substrates from rock ledges and glacial erratics, where polypody ferns thrive, to wetlands with their fiddleheads of ostrich ferns and dry areas with abundant bracken ferns, to bogs and marshes sporting tall cinnamon and royal ferns.
Youth Spring Fishing Day in Waldoboro
The Lincoln County Fish and Game Association and Medomak Valley Land Trust will host the annual Youth Spring Fishing Day at the Waldoboro Quarry on Depot Street in Waldoboro on Saturday, May 27 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Bristol
On Saturday, May 27, starting at 2 p.m., traditional tunes of the British Isles will be performed on the parade grounds of Fort William Henry, at the Colonial Pemaquid State Historic Site, by a kilted band from Ellsworth, to open Memorial Day weekend. The event will include commentary and a salute to those who have served the nation.
Waldoborough Historical Society to Honor Veterans
The Waldoborough Historical Society will host a special program called “Salute to Veterans” on Sunday, May 28 at 4 p.m. at the VFW Hall on Mill Street in Waldoboro.
LA to Dedicate John Bowers Baseball Field on May 26
On Friday, May 26 at 4 p.m., Lincoln Academy in Newcastle will dedicate its new John Bowers Baseball Field. John Bowers was a Lincoln Academy graduate in the Class of 1975 who was an avid baseball player. He served on the Lincoln Academy Board of Trustees for many years before passing away in 2011.
