In response to articles and editorials in our local papers as of May 29, as one who spent many a baffling hour serving on the Wiscasset/Edgecomb Bypass Task Force, I cannot feel sympathetic to the business owners within the Historic Village area of the town of Wiscasset. A traffic light at the State Route 27 North intersection is by far the simplest, if not least expensive, way to keep traffic flow smooth through the town.
Pay It Forward Is Alive and Well
A huge thank you is due to a generous woman who paid for a battery for my watch at Radio Shack. I had gone to John at Stars and he referred me to Radio Shack where the clerk could not undo the tiny screws. Back to John before he closed. He did get them out and kept them while back to Radio Shack I galloped.
Best of Care
I was a visitor in your area during the last week of May. While there, I became ill and needed to be admitted to hospital.
A Viable Business Will Be Destroyed
This letter is to express my deepest concerns regarding the proposal to remove trees on the Chewonki Campground property in Wiscasset, potentially eliminating 23 of the 47 campground sites for airport expansion.
FOCUS ON WINNING
If you thought you heard a loud, collective groan earlier this week, you probably did.
GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY

Needs to be Disposed of Properly
As a veteran of the Vietnam War, I was very upset last Thursday that I found an American Flag in the garbage can at Mike’s Place in Newcastle on Route 1. Whoever threw this flag away has no respect for our country.
We All Have a Right to Know
As a parent I am very concerned about toxic chemicals in our everyday products that could have serious health effects on my children. We try to be careful consumers and limit our children’s exposure to harmful chemicals.
The Little Committee That Could
We would be remiss if we did not take a moment to stop and thank the Damariscotta Mills Fish Ladder Restoration Committee.
Small Sliver Of Nature
Thanks to The Lincoln County News for sending a reporter to take pictures and create a story centered around Riverside Park.
Intend To Respect Those Wishes
I want it known, after much consideration, I will not be making a motion to adjourn the May 31 town meeting, and I hope no one else will either.
Memorial Day 2014
Lest the reader assume respecting our nation’s colors is something new, the U.S. Flag Code goes back 72 years (1942) and many years before that when citizens were proud of their flag.
Clear Up A Few Misconceptions
With all the letters that have appeared in this newspaper, and after a neighborhood meeting and two board meetings since that meeting, it is time for the community to know the status of the Stepping Stone Housing project at Blue Haven and to clear up a few misconceptions.
