A former employee of the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office has filed a discrimination lawsuit in U.S. District Court alleging that she was sexually harassed by a former county prosecutor.
Chastity Krah, 45, of Newcastle, on Aug. 15 sued Lincoln County, the county commissioners, District Attorney Geoffrey Rushlau, former Assistant District Attorney Andrew Wright, and the Maine Attorney General’s Office.
Krah claims that she was sexually harassed by Wright, who was her supervisor, in 2013 and 2014. She also claims county officials were indifferent to her situation and Rushlau forced her to resign in December 2014 under false and misleading pretenses.
She is seeking back pay and reinstatement, along with unspecified compensatory and punitive damages and attorney’s fees.
Krah, who was a victim witness advocate from April 2008 to Dec. 5, 2014, worked for Lincoln County. Rushlau, who is the elected district attorney for Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, and Waldo counties, and Wright, who is now in private practice, were state employees in the Maine Attorney General’s Office when Krah worked in the district attorney’s office in Wiscasset.
Lincoln County Administrator Carrie Kipfer declined Thursday, Aug. 18 to comment on the case on behalf of the county and the commissioners.
Timothy Feeley, spokesman for the attorney general’s office, declined Thursday to comment on behalf of his office and Rushlau. Rushlau was not available for comment. Eric Uhl, Wright’s Portland attorney, also declined to comment.
