A Whitefield man has been sentenced to seven years in prison and three years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a firearm, plus a consecutive term of a year and a day in prison for violating the terms of his supervised release.
Peter Poland, 44, had pleaded guilty to the firearm offense Sept. 28, 2016, according to a press release from the office of U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty.
Poland burglarized a home in Whitefield and stole three firearms in March 2016, according to the press release, which cites court records. At the time, he was on supervised release for a prior felony drug conviction.
Judge John A. Woodcock Jr. sentenced Poland in U.S. District Court in Bangor.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives investigated.
