Just in time, the rain stopped and the clouds broke letting the sun shine on a ribbon cutting ceremony welcoming The Kidz Closet to the Marketplace Plaza on Rt. 1 in Wiscasset.
Celebrating with The Kidz Closet owner, Angela Achorn and her husband Gerald Achorn, of Nobleboro, were Wiscasset Selectmen Ed Polewarczyk, Judy Colby and Bill Curtis, with Code Enforcement Officer Rick Lang, Town Manager Laurie Smith and Town Planner Misty Gorski.
The Kidz Closet closed its former home on Rt. 1 in Nobleboro, “on April 28, and we opened here May 1,” Angela said.
Gerald Achorn likes the new location, with plenty of surrounding services to bring the shop visibility.
“We’re right across from Shaw’s, and with Subway here and Family Dollar, the [drivers] slow down,” he said. “In Nobleboro, it’s hard to see what’s there when you’re traveling 60 mph.”
The new location is effectively double the size of the business’s former home. The Kidz Closet still features gently used children’s clothing and all the accoutrements bringing up children requires. Filling in the added space, the Achorns now feature maternity wear and plan to add a selection of adult clothing.
The Kidz Closet is located at 681 Bath Rd., in the Marketplace Plaza, Wiscasset. Hours are Tues.-Sat., 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sun., 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call 882-9920, or email Angela at the kidzcloset@rocketmail.com, and or like them on Facebook.
