A motor vehicle went off the Rt. 1 in the vicinity of Moose Crossing Garden Center in Waldoboro and snapped a utility pole in two before the vehicle burst into flames around 2:30 this afternoon.
Northbound traffic was rerouted around the scene via Rt. 235. Southbound traffic was rerouted via Old Route One.
Greg Latimer, LCN’s correspondent on the scene, reported the vehicle went off the road and traveled some distance before striking the pole. Skid marks were not observable to the naked eye, Latimer said.
The subject in the vehicle, identified as a male individual, was transported from the scene by ambulance. His condition is unknown as of this posting.
Mutual aid units from Warren and Knox County Sheriff’s Deputies are assisting Waldoboro Fire and Rescue units at the scene.
