Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in a motor vehicle accident that involved two cars and a motorcycle on Gardiner Road at approximately 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 5.
A female driver in a black Cadillac SUV, suspected of being under the influence, was driving northbound on Route 27, Wiscasset Reserve Officer Ben Kolko said. A Kia SUV with one passenger and a motorcyclist were traveling southbound.
The collision caused the Kia to roll-over into a ditch on the northbound lane in the vicinity of 161 Gardiner Rd. All four individuals involved were transported to area hospitals, Kolko said.
The motorcyclist was transported to Midcoast Hospital. The driver and occupant of the Kia and the driver of the Cadillac were transported to LincolnHealth-Miles.
Central Lincoln County, Wiscasset, and Bath ambulance services responded to the scene, in addition to the Wiscasset Fire Department, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wiscasset Police Department.
The Wiscasset Fire Department directed traffic and helped clear debris from the roadway. Both lanes of Route 27 were temporarily closed as the Cadillac was towed from the scene. Traffic was reduced to a single lane as the scene was cleared.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
