Love, unconditionally, is on-going at the Lincoln County Animal Shelter.
For many months, “All Four Feet” has reported on animal love stories that occur daily at LCAS.
At times the spotlight on the love of animals, reported in “All Four Feet,” has made an effort to be all-inclusive.
Beyond our shelter, reaching out into our communities and afar, “All Four Feet” has included stories about the capacity of human devotion that knows no boundaries in their love for all God’s creatures.
LCAS teaches us each day about saving the lost and abused. Our eyes and ears have been opened to the plight of animals worldwide, inspired by our shelter staff.
This article was to have focused on the plight of wolves in the United States, inspired by a recently released book called, “The Hidden Lives of Wolves,” written by Jim and Jamie Dutcher, with a forward by Robert Redford.
The article, which I will write for next week’s “All Four Feet” will include a review of the book and a photograph of a dog, named Sasha, a 9-year-old female husky that is now in residence at LCAS.
Our Sasha (wolf-of-long-ago in her genes, as in the genes of all dogs) I wanted to meet. The storm that sealed off my doors made it impossible however.
Wanting to get “All Four Feet” to The Lincoln County News in time for Valentine’s Day, I sat with camera in hand this morning, hoping that the perfect Valentine would come into view out my kitchen window.
And then, there she was! A red Valentine cardinal in snow with seed. Of course she only has “all two feet,” but her mate has been around the snowy morning as well – therefore, “All Four Feet” wishes each of you Happy Valentine’s Day and loving memories of all creatures great and small.
