Bean is a purebred American bulldog – a great family dog.
Bean, as I’ve written before, cannot be with any other animals. He cannot be with small children because of his size. But someone, somewhere must want an only pet to sit beside them for a ride in the car.
I know there is someone out there who would like to take Bean for an ice-cream cone. Perhaps a teenage boy or girl would love to have Bean as their special friend. I’m told he keeps secrets.
Bean was brought to the shelter as a stray. No one claimed him after 10 days. He now belongs in the care of LCAS. The staff loves him, but there is no place like a forever home.
Every time I visit Bean, I take him a special treat and sit with him and try to assure him that somebody, one day soon, will take him home. There is something about Bean … what? An aura around him? I would adopt him in a heartbeat, but I have three small dogs and three aging cats.
Please let it be you to be loved by Bean! No greater companion is the feedback received from owners of American bulldogs.
I recently visited Bean and planned to give him a ride and take him for an ice-cream cone, but because of the holiday traffic, I don’t think we’ll take a ride today.
This ride and treat I will save for another time, unless you beat me to it, and give Bean a ride for ice cream on the way forever home.
Bean was sitting in his cage waiting. . . he is one of the few dogs that doesn’t bark his head off. He seems to always be smiling, waiting for a walk and a hug and a kiss if the walker wants one.
The staff told me that as far as they knew, Bean had not gone for any rides since he had been at LCAS.
When I arrived at the shelter I parked behind one of the sheds. Bean was brought to my car and eagerly jumped in. I’d brought him some roast beef from the deli and we sat in the car while this gentle animal, with a most gentle mouth, took my treat. I received multiple kisses in return. I hugged him and hugged him. He feels so strong and gentle at the same time.
Like the proverbial dog with a bone (that would be me) I told Bean I was not going to give up on him until we found him a home. I promised him, “Bean, I know you will get a home this weekend or next week.”
Please don’t make a fibber out of me.
If you decide to adopt this beautiful Bean, please let me know. I would value a moment to take pictures of Bean going home. Call Kelly at 586-5604.
