The AOS 93 Board voted unanimously during a meeting the evening of Tuesday, May 14 to hire a new superintendent.
Todd Sanders accepted a two-year contract that will begin July 1 and end June 30, 2026.
Board Chair Sam Belknap said Sanders’ resume and demeanor during his interviews left a deep impression on the board.
“We feel like we are very happy to move forward with you as superintendent of AOS 93,” Belknap said to Sanders during the May 14 meeting.
“I just want to thank you for the opportunity,” Sanders said.
Sanders has been superintendent of RSU 16 – which includes Mechanic Falls, Minot, and Poland – since January 2023.
He spent 11 years as principal of Gardiner Regional Middle School before taking the role of superintendent at MSAD 58 in 2019. He comes to AOS 93 with about 35 years of experience in education.
AOS 93 Superintendent Lynsey Johnston announced her resignation from the position in February. She will step down from the role in June.
“I’ve known Todd (Sanders) for many years, and I think you’ve made a great choice,” Johnston said to the board during the May 14 meeting.
The next meeting of the AOS 93 Board is at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11 in the AOS 93 central office and online.
