The Nobleboro Historical Society’s AppleFest was held on Oct. 2 at the Nobleboro Central School. More than 500 people packed the school gymnasium for craft tables, food and live music.
There were also activities outside the school building, including a rock-climbing wall brought over from Camp Kieve. The Minnehata Fire Company was on hand and ready to demonstrate any of their equipment that kids might want to see.
Funds raised at the event support the Nobleboro Historical Society and the NCS 8th-grade projects.
Although Mary Sheldon, President of the Nobleboro Historical Society did not have an exact figure for the amount of money raised, she said she was certain that they raised enough money to cover the three $1000 scholarships that the Society gives out each year.
Charlotte, Bud and Bonnie of the Damariscotta Lake Country band entertained the crowd as they sampled apple dishes and shopped for handmade crafts and wares made by local residents.
Nobleboro resident Sandra O’Brien worked a table of gift bags she makes every year for sale at AppleFest. Her Friendship Bags are cloth bags that can be used to replace disposable wrapping paper. They are all made from recycled materials and come different in sizes designed to fit wine bottles, small trinkets and everything in between.
“AppleFest is wonderful,” O’Brien said. “There are always neighbors that come by that I don’t get to see too often.”
