The state expects a pretrial resolution in the Wiscasset mailbox-bombing case, Assistant District Attorney Andrew Wright said in Lincoln County Superior Court Sept. 27.
Wright said defendants Cory Hodgdon, of Wiscasset, and his co-defendant, a 17-year-old male, are going to participate in a restorative justice program.
Hodgdon and his co-defendant allegedly placed homemade explosives in the mailboxes of Wiscasset High School Educational Technician Cheryl Campbell and Wiscasset Selectman Ed Polewarczyk between 9-9:30 p.m. April 9.
The bombs detonated and damaged, but did not completely destroy the mailboxes, according to an April 11 article in The Lincoln County News.
According to a June 13 article, Hodgdon and the juvenile were charged with two counts apiece of Class C criminal use of explosives and Class D reckless conduct.
Wright did not specify whether the state would dismiss the charges or whether the sides intend to strike a plea agreement.
Polewarczyk said he had “mixed emotions” about participating in the restorative justice program, but both he and his wife were pleased with it.
It was a very good program, Polewarczyk said. “I was very pleased with the outcome.”
