Bristol Consolidated School’s first pre-kindergarten class will have at least 15 students, Principal Jennifer Ribeiro said at an Aug. 1 Bristol School Committee meeting.
The pre-K program is the first in the Central Lincoln County (AOS 93) School System.
Ribeiro expects the elementary school’s 2012-13 enrollment to total 185, an increase of eight since the end of the 2011-12 academic year.
In other school committee business, the committee authorized AOS 93 Supt. Steve Bailey to request bids for a “retro-commissioning” project at the school.
The intent of the energy efficiency project is to save electricity and heating fuel costs through adjustments to heating and ventilation systems.
The contractor will re-calibrate the boiler controls and thermostats and make adjustments to the hot water system, the refrigerator and freezer condensers, the timers that control the exhaust fans and other systems.
The estimate for the project is approximately $35,000, with about half to come from an Efficiency Maine grant.
The district expects the retro-commissioning to save about $14,000 per year in energy costs, so the school should recoup its investment in a little more than a year.
