A Belfast women died from injuries she sustained in a head-on collision on Route 1 in Warren on September 29, and the Edgecomb couple in the truck she hit suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Blanche Foss, 72, of Belfast, was driving a 2008 Jeep north on Route 1 when she crossed the centerline and hit John Orne, 51, of Edgecomb, who was operating a 2005 Chevy truck, head on, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Foss was transported to a nearby Odd Fellows Hall parking lot to wait for a LifeFlight helicopter. Shortly after LifeFlight arrived, it was determined that Foss had died of her injuries.
Orne and his passenger, Cathy Orne, 56, also of Edgecomb, were transported to the Miles Campus of LincolnHealth with non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident occurred just south of the intersection of Route 90. A portion of Route 1 was closed for approximately two hours to clear the scene.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Thomaston and Waldoboro ambulances, and Warren Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene.
