After a one-year hiatus from the Bristol Parks and Recreation Commission, Gordon Benner is throwing his hat into the ring for a seat on the commission in the only contested election in Bristol this year.
Benner, a former chairman of the commission who was a commissioner for 13 years before losing his re-election bid to Clyde Pendleton Sr. last year, faces competition from Laurie Mahan for the seat. The seat is currently held by George Sawtelle, who did not file paperwork to run for re-election.
Rob Davidson returned nomination papers to run for the parks commission, but withdrew from the race Friday, Feb. 3.
Elsewhere on the ballot, Selectman Chad Hanna is seeking another three-year term. Hanna currently chairs the Bristol Board of Selectmen.
Bristol Planning Board members Patricia Jennings and Benjamin Pendleton are seeking re-election for three-year terms.
Bristol School Committee member Darin Carlucci took out nomination papers to seek another three-year term, but did not submit the papers to the town by the Feb. 3 deadline. Carlucci said he intends to run as a write-in candidate.
Bristol voters will elect officers Monday, March 20. The open portion of the annual town meeting will follow Tuesday, March 21.
