William Benner upset incumbent Robert Tibbetts in a tight, three-way race for a seat on the Bristol Board of Selectmen.
Benner won with 212 votes to Tibbetts’ 183, a 29-vote margin in an election with well over 400 ballots cast. Steve Nichols finished a distant third with 40 votes.
The selectman’s race was the only one contested on the ballot.
Earl Cooper and George Masters, both unopposed in bids for reelection to the Bristol Planning Board, received 314 and 365 votes, respectively.
Darin Carlucci, a veteran of the Bristol School Committee, also unopposed, won reelection with 352 votes.
Judith Lowd won a three-year term and Sandra Lane a one-year term on the Bristol Parks Commission with 366 and 388 votes, respectively.
Bristol’s annual town meeting will continue tonight at 7 p.m. at the Bristol Consolidated School. Bristol Parks will host a community dinner ($6) featuring hot dogs, baked beans, macaroni and cheese and cole slaw at 6 p.m.
