A blustery wind and rain storm that chugged though Lincoln County Sunday morning has left thousands without power at the time of this posting.
Repair crews from Central Maine Power (CMP) were scrambling to bring customers back on line, but so far there’s been no estimate whether all power will be restored before a chill spring nightfall settles in.
As of 1:04 p.m. there were 16 Lincoln County towns with power outages and 2600 individual households without power in the county, according to CMP. Lincoln County was second in the state for highest number of outages, behind Cumberland County with 3900, according to CMP.
Statewide, there were 10,083 power outages as of 12:45 p.m.; which was a marked improvement over the 14,250 outages reported at 9 a.m., according to CMP.
By mid-day the wind and rain had died down, improving conditions for CMP crews as they struggled to reach downed power lines.
To report an outage to CMP, call 1-800-750-4000. All downed lines, regardless of type, should be deemed dangerous and residents are warned by the CMP not to approach or move them.
The Lincoln County News will continue to follow the progress of this event and report any additional information here as soon as it becomes available.
