Kenneth F. Dobson Jr., 37, of Boothbay Harbor, will serve 12 years for six counts of Class A gross sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl.
Justice Jeffrey Hjelm sentenced Dobson to 15 years in the custody of the Dept. of Corrections with all but 12 years suspended and four years of probation on the first three counts. Dobson will serve those sentences concurrently.
Hjelm sentenced Dobson to 12 years, all suspended and four years of probation on the other three counts. Dobson will serve the probation following his release.
Dobson’s conditions of probation include no contact with the victim, the family of the victim or any female child under the age of 18.
He will also have to register as a sex offender and complete counseling and treatment as directed by his probation officer.
The sentencing hearing was Aug. 30 in Lincoln County Superior Court.
Dobson assaulted the girl for the first time when she was 12. The assaults continued for more than a year, according to court documents.
A jury found Dobson guilty of the six charges and not guilty of 17 other charges of Class A and B gross sexual assault in Lincoln County Superior Court June 27.
Dobson was originally indicted on 28 charges. The state dismissed some charges before trial, citing insufficient evidence.
Dobson’s defense attorney, David Paris, has said he plans to appeal.
