A 35-year-old Boothbay man was jailed April 22 after threatening his girlfriend with a hatchet.
Ryan Barter, who lives on Ryder Trail, was charged with assault, criminal restraint, and domestic violence (terrorizing). Because he was out on bond for other charges, he was also charged with four counts of violating the conditions of his release, according to Sheriff’s Lt. Michael Murphy.
Deputies said Barter punched and kicked his girlfriend and threatened her with a carpenter’s hatchet.
Murphy said Ryan was held at Two Bridges Jail pending a court appearance.
