A 43-year-old Boothbay man will serve two years in prison and eight years of probation for sexually abusing a 9-year-old female relative in February 2012.
Jeremy E. Raburn pleaded guilty to two charges of Class B unlawful sexual contact, a felony, in Lincoln County Superior Court in Wiscasset, Friday, May 2.
Raburn was sentenced to six years in prison with all but two years suspended, plus eight years of probation. He is currently serving the sentence at the Maine Correctional Center in Windham.
His probation conditions prohibit contact with the victim and her relatives, as well as all girls under the age of 16, except for supervised contact with another female relative.
The conditions prohibit Raburn’s possession or viewing of sexually oriented material and require him to submit to random searches. He will have to complete sex offender treatment and comply with the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
He will also have to pay a $50 fine and a $10 monthly supervision fee throughout his probation. If he violates probation, he could return to prison for the remainder of the six-year sentence.
The Maine Department of Health and Human Services referred the case to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in August 2012 after the girl told a friend about the abuse.
Raburn and the victim initially denied the allegations, according to a statement by Detective Terry Michaud of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Michaud received new information about the matter in December 2013. Raburn subsequently confessed to the abuse after a polygraph exam, Michaud said in the statement. Michaud arrested Raburn Dec. 19, 2013.
