Lincoln County Sheriff Todd Bracket was honored with a Legislative Sentiment read into the record by the Clerk of the House of Representatives Tuesday.
The sentiment was sponsored in part by Lincoln County legislators Rep. Wendy Pieh (D-Bremen), Sen. David Trahan (R-Waldoboro), Rep. Les Fossel (R-Alna), Rep. Bruce McDonald (D-Boothbay), Rep, Jon McKane (R-Newcastle) and Rep. Elizabeth Miller (D-Somerville).
The sentiment states: “Sheriff Brackett is the recipient of the Maine Sheriff’s Association Presidential Citation Award. This award is given each year to someone who has made significant contributions to the Maine Sheriff’s Association, someone whose contributions and hard work go above and beyond the call of duty. Sheriff Brackett has rejuvenated the Maine Sheriff’s Association at the State level while maintaining his full-time job and responsibilities in Lincoln County. We extend our appreciation to Sheriff Brackett for his commitment to the citizens of the State and congratulate him on receiving this award.”
After the reading, Rep. Pieh spoke about her long association with the Sheriff from his days of being a “K-9 Cop,” to Chief of Police of Damariscotta and his election as Sheriff of Lincoln County.
Rep. McDonald added that “Brackett’s effort to finding alternatives to incarceration has saved the state money.”
Rep. McKane mentioned how the Sheriff and his Deputies have raised awareness and money for programs such as Youth Promise.
Youth Promise Executive Director, Mary Trescott said, “Todd is very supportive of families and kids and he has helped us from the beginning.”
After receiving the Sentiment, Brackett said “It was a very humbling morning and I appreciate the recognition of our legislators.”
