Damariscotta police are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver who left the scene of an accident in the parking lot of McDonald’s restaurant July 7 around 6:10 p.m.
Officer/Detective Richard Alexander said the car hit a 15-year-old boy on a bike and then “fled the scene.”
“The boy sustained significant injuries,” Alexander said. “The car we’re looking for is an older model Toyota Corolla, possibly dark gray metallic in color, operated by a male subject. There were also passengers in the vehicle.”
Alexander explained the victim was transported to the hospital with “possibly a broken jaw. He did receive a lot of scrapes, bumps, and bruises. We are looking for public help on this.”
Visiting a relative on Biscay Road, the Waldoboro youth was riding his bike and entered the McDonald’s parking lot Wednesday via the Biscay Road entrance. According to Alexander, “th[e] vehicle came flying around the parking lot. We do have the vehicle from [McDonald’s] surveillance and it appears to be an older model Toyota Corolla.”
“If anyone has any information, please call the Damariscotta Police Dept. at 563-1909,” Alexander said.
