Lincoln County residents woke up to a slushy mess Sunday morning in the aftermath of an early season nor’easter. A Winter Storm Warning issued by The National Weather Service (NWS) for Lincoln County remains in effect until 2 p.m. Sunday.
The NWS advises that motorists should restrict their travel on area roads, avoiding the hazard of additional snow or rainfall in the morning hours, and allowing road clearing and electrical repair crews to do their work.
Most snowfall or precipitation should end by mid-day Sunday; but high winds from the north-northwest becoming northwesterly are forecast to build to 25-35 mph as the storm front passes, and then diminish in the evening hours, according to the NWS.
Scattered power outages were reported during the overnight hours in 16 of the 17 towns in Lincoln County. More power outages are expected after the winds increase Sunday afternoon.
The Lincoln County News will continue to follow this event and report any additional information here as soon as it becomes available.
