Waldoboro murder suspect Arline Lawless was indicted Sept. 14 by a Lincoln County Grand Jury on a charge of “Intentional or Knowing Murder.”
Lawless, 25, also known as Arline Seavey, was arrested Aug. 15 as she was being discharged from the Spring Harbor treatment center in Westbrook. According to its website, Spring Harbor is a provider of inpatient services for individuals who experience acute mental illness or dual disorders issues.
Lawless is charged in the July 21 shooting death of Norman Benner, 34, at a home they shared at 2177 Friendship Rd., in Waldoboro.
In related action today, Justice Jeffrey Hjelm granted a motion by Assistant Attorney General Debra Cashman and ordered Lawless to undergo examination by the state forensic service in an attempt to determine Lawless’ mental condition at the time of the alleged crime.
