Newcastle Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep on Rt. 1 was notified (today) Thursday morning that their dealership would be included in the new company that is purchasing the primary assets of Chrysler.
“It is great news for us,” said Randall C. Miller, the dealership president. The notice means the jobs of Newcastle’s 30-plus employees were safe.
Thursday was the day that Maine’s 29 Chrysler dealers were waiting for; the day when they would be notified if the new company that is purchasing Chrysler’s assets would include them in the new venture.
“We want you and your team to play an increasingly important role in our company’s rebirth to prosperity,” said the Chrysler letter to Miller.
“The letter, (from Chrysler) took a big load off my mind. I felt like I had a fatal disease as friends and customers came in wondering if we would stay open. I had to be honest and tell them I didn’t know,” he said.
“Now I do. I can tell them we are still in business and will be honoring their warranties, and selling new and used cars to our customers.”
“It is great news for the little guys in the car business,” Miller said.
