The National Weather Service (NWS) has downgraded the forecast for Lincoln County regarding a storm expected to visit the area beginning late Tues. afternoon and evening. A Winter Storm Watch issued Mon. was downgraded on Tues. morning to a Winter Weather Advisory, and forecast snowfall totals slid drastically from 4 to 8 inches down to 1 to 3 inches, according to the NWS.
Areas south of Lincoln County are still under a Winter Storm Watch.
The storm developed overnight off the New Jersey coast is now slowly chugging north, even while most of Lincoln County remains under sunny skies at the time of this posting.
The steadiest snowfall won’t be seen in Lincoln County until well after dark, according to the NWS and other forecasters.
Radar images monitored at 11:19 a.m. on www.intellicast.com indicated that the snowline was just crossing the Maine border. Forecasts call for the most snowfall accumulation on Lincoln County peninsulas, with the possibility that inland areas may see only a dusting to an inch or so.
The Winter Weather Advisory is effect until 7 a.m. on Weds., according to the NWS.
