Rt. 27 in Edgecomb near Sheepscot River Pottery was closed for a short time Mon. afternoon as first responders dealt with a semi truck with a live electric wire down on the vehicle.
Kimberly Kaiser of the Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency (LCEMA) confirmed that the road is closed due to a wire on the truck, but could not confirm at the time whether the driver had been safely evacuated. Later reports indicate that the driver was unhurt and out of the vehicle. Central Maine Power (CMP) was alerted by the LCEMA and arrived on scene, allowing the road to reopen at approximately 2:09 p.m.
The wire may have been knocked down by increasing winds as a storm approaches for the late afternoon and evening hours. Sustained wind velocity for Edgecomb at the time of the incident was 15 mph from the south-southeast, with much higher gusts, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
