Peter Simonds will report Mon., May 23, for six months of incarceration.
Justice Andrew Horton found Simonds guilty of three charges of Class D Unlawful Sexual Contact at a sentencing hearing in Sagadahoc County Superior Court May 20.
Per the terms of a plea agreement, Simonds will serve six months in jail. He will remain on probation for three years following incarceration. If he violates the conditions of his probation, he could potentially serve the remainder in jail.
The conditions of probation include no contact with the individuals named in the charges and no unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16. He must complete a psychological evaluation and a sex offender evaluation and he must not return to Great Salt Bay Community School.
Simonds, 45, of Nobleboro, a former teacher at Great Salt Bay Community School, pleaded no contest to the charges May 6.
Because Simonds is guilty of multiple counts, he must also register as a sex offender for life.
A parent of one victim addressed the court and also spoke to Simonds directly.
“You, Peter Simonds, are a very sick individual,” the parent said.
The court also received three written statements from victims or relatives of victims.
