A single-car, single-occupant crash on Rt. 220 in Waldoboro left one dead on Jan. 4.
The northbound vehicle struck a telephone pole and then a tree around 11 a.m., tearing the car in half.
Kristen Gardner, 45 of Washington, was pronounced dead when responders arrived on scene shortly after the crash. The make of vehicle was difficult to determine at the scene, said Waldoboro Police Chief Bill Labombarde.
“We’re conducting a full investigation, and details will be available soon,” Labombarde said at the scene.
Waldoboro Police, Waldoboro First Responders and State Police responded to the scene.
