A group of Waldoboro citizens has filed suit against the town seeking to invalidate the town’s July 9 Special Town Meeting.
On Aug. 5, attorney Clifford Goodall filed suit in Lincoln County Superior Court, representing Dennis Blanchet, et al, of Waldoboro, versus the Town of Waldoboro. According to Blanchet, Waldoboro also received a copy of the suit.
Blanchet, along with eight other Waldoboro residents are alleging the July 9 Special Town Meeting was invalid because the meeting was not conducted consistent with the referendum voting method ordinance adopted by Waldoboro Nov. 4, 2008.
The plaintiffs, Blanchet, Travis Reed, Michael Robitaille, John Higgins, Doreen Weiss, Wallace Walton, Patricia Chapman, Duncan Morrell and Scott Dupuis are requesting the court to find that the results of the July 9 Special Town Meeting are void after reviewing the facts, pursuant to Rule 80B.
The town has 21 days to answer the motion with a memorandum in opposition with the clerk’s office.
If the town fails to file, the court may grant the motion without further notice and without a hearing.
