A Winter Storm Watch issued Tuesday by the National Weather Service (NWS) in regard to a weather system forecast to impact Lincoln County on Thursday has been reduced to a less ominous Winter Weather Advisory.
The storm is now forecast to slide to the west, where a Winter Storm Watch is still in effect.
Forecast snowfall accumulation has been reduced to 4 to 8 inches (originally forecast at 6 to 10 inches), according to the NWS.
However timing for the storm remains essentially the same, with snowfall beginning Weds. night and continuing through the day on Thursday, according to the NWS.
Temperatures should remain below freezing for the duration of the event, which should preclude the possibility of rain, sleet or ice except along the immediate coastline, according to the NWS.
The Lincoln County News will continue to follow the progress of this event and post any additional information here as soon as it becomes available.
