Law enforcement suspects alcohol was a factor in a single-vehicle accident that injured a Bristol woman and broke two utility poles in Bremen April 1.
Gabrielle D. Hatch, 42, of Bristol, was driving a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan north on Waldoboro Road (Route 32) near the road’s northerly intersection with Shore Road shortly before 6:30 p.m., according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Rand Maker.
Hatch lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and eventually struck a utility pole, breaking it in half and breaking a second pole on the same line. The damage resulted in a power outage.
Hatch sustained non-life-threatening head and back injuries in the crash, Maker said. The Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service transported her to the Miles Campus of LincolnHealth in Damariscotta.
She was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
“We suspect alcohol was involved and we’re awaiting test results to determine that,” Maker said.
Emergency crews closed Waldoboro Road to through traffic during the response.
The minivan sustained extensive front-end damage, Maker said. The front airbags deployed. Hatch was wearing a seat belt.
The Bremen Fire Department, Bremen First Responders, Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service, Central Maine Power Co., and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
