The body of a man found at the scene of a Nov. 3 fire in Bremen has been identified by the Maine’s Chief Medical Examiner.
Office administrator Mark Belserene confirmed that Steven Sidelinger, 55, died as a result of inhalation of the products of combustion, also known as heat and smoke inhalation. Belserene said Sidelinger’s death was accidental.
The fire destroyed the small house, located at 435 Turner Rd., in which Sidelinger lived.
The owner of the home was identified as Larry Sidelinger. Maine Dept. of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland described the house as a one-time seasonal camp, built of posts that had been converted into a year ’round residence.
Sgt. Ken Grimes of the State Fire Marshal’s office said the cause of the fire is officially listed as undetermined. He said the building was completely consumed except for those parts that do not burn, such as the chimney and any metal parts.
“We’ll never know for sure what occurred,” Grimes said.
