The Bremen Board of Selectmen is calling for residents who would like to serve on the town’s Shellfish Committee to step forward.
The Shellfish Committee helps govern town policy towards clamming and other shellfish related industries. Anyone interested in serving on the committee is asked to call the town office at 529-5945.
“Perhaps we can all brainstorm this problem,” and work with Bremen’s Deputy Shellfish Warden Lt. Rand Maker of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, suggested Selectman Patrick Ginnaty at the board’s Dec. 16 meeting.
Maker is one member of the three-person committee. The other two seats, which “may be open,” are held by Lisa Prior, who moved out of town, and David Osier, who appears to have decided not to continue serving on the committee, town officials said.
It is unclear at this time how many seats are open, Town Clerk Joanne McGregor said, but the selectmen expressed their desire for interested Bremen residents to step forward with an interest in serving on the committee, the board said at their Dec. 16 meeting.
The board will revisit the issue at the Jan. 6 selectmen’s meeting.
