Bremen voters unanimously approved the purchase of 10 acres of land off Route 32 from Charles Hay, to be used for water access recreation and conservation for the inhabitants of the town of Bremen.
The property is to be named for Charles Hay’s father, John Hay.

The property includes frontage on the Medomak River and has an assessed value of $289,000. The owner originally asked $249,000 for the property and rejected requests to either donate it to the town or take $50,000 and a reduction in taxes. Selectman Hank Nevins was able to negotiate a final price of $120,000.
“This falls squarely in line with what people want.” Conservation Commission Chairman Dennis Prior said at an April 3 hearing.
