A Dept. of Transportation contractor is preparing to start an 8-10 week bridge improvement project on Rt. 218 in Alna, DOT’s Ted Talbot said May 24.
The project calls for the widening of the bridge over Trout Brook by two feet on each side. Workers will also install a new concrete railing system or “mainrail” and reface the bridge abutments, a process known as “rehabbing the wings,” Talbot said.
The price tag for the project is about $130,000.
The crew is already mobilizing and will probably start the job in earnest after Memorial Day, Talbot said.
The bridge will remain open to one-way traffic throughout the construction and the state will work to minimize any traffic impacts, Talbot said.
