A Bristol man allegedly held a handgun to a neighbor’s head and threatened to kill him on Poor Farm Road in Bristol, Thursday, July 17.
Mark A. Zaccadelli Sr., 50, faces charges of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, and terrorizing with a dangerous weapon, all class C felonies; and assault, a class D misdemeanor.
The incident began with a dispute between Zaccadelli’s son and a neighbor about “slashed tires and other conduct on Poor Farm Road,” Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Bridgham said in a statement.
The neighbor and Zaccadelli’s son “started fighting,” Bridgham said. Zaccadelli was in a truck nearby and, when the neighbor and his son started fighting, Zaccadelli exited the truck to help his son.
Zaccadelli allegedly assaulted the neighbor and bit him on the left cheek, breaking the skin, Bridgham said.
The neighbor was able to escape Zaccadelli’s grasp. Zaccadelli allegedly “reached into his back waistband,” pulled out a semiautomatic handgun, and held it against the neighbor’s left temple, Bridgham said.
Zaccadelli was able to hold the other man at gunpoint by grabbing his shirt, Bridgham said. He allegedly told the neighbor “he was going to kill him and that if the gun incident was reported to the police, (the neighbor) ‘would be dead in three days,'” Bridgham said.
Zaccadelli told the man that he would have “his motorcycle gang, the Exiles, take care of this problem,” Bridgham said.
Bridgham arrested Zaccadelli on Landing Road in Round Pond at 5:28 p.m. the same day and transported him to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset, according to court documents.
Lt. Rand Maker, of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, said Zaccadelli “acknowledged there was a fight” and “admitted there was an event that took place” between himself and his neighbor.
“In this case, there is other information that supports the victim’s side of this,” Maker said.
The sheriff’s office looks into every threat, but “has not experienced” any violent incidents with the Exiles or any other motorcycle organization in the area, Maker said.
As of July 28, Zaccadelli remains in custody with bail set at $25,000 cash. He is due to appear in court at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 28.
A class C crime carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine; a class D crime carries a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.
