A Bristol man faces six felony charges of burglary, receiving stolen property and theft in connection with the Aug. 26-27 burglary of two Newcastle businesses.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office arrested 31-year-old Corey Cookson Sept. 1. Cookson was released the following day on $750 cash bail.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Charles J. “C.J.” Scavetta, 24, of Damariscotta, on the same six charges.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information about Scavetta’s whereabouts to contact Detective Terry Michaud at 882-6576.
Cookson and Scavetta allegedly burglarized Lincoln County Publishing Co. and Standpipe Redemption, stealing electronics and returnable cans. The businesses are in the same building at 116 Mills Rd.
Lincoln County Publishing Company publishes The Lincoln County News, which has its offices in the same building.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office previously arrested a third man, Chad Legere, 28, of Damariscotta, while executing a search warrant at Scavetta’s 241 Rt. 1 residence.
Legere faces a single felony charge of receiving stolen property. LCSO Lt. Michael Murphy said he might face additional charges pending a review of the case by the district attorney’s office.
LCSO recovered the electronics and some returnable cans from the residence.
