Bristol Town Administrator Kris Poland will leave the town office at the end of the year after more than 15 years with the town and 14 1/2 as town administrator.
Poland decided not to have her contract renewed for the upcoming year, according to Chad Hanna, the chairman of the Bristol Board of Selectmen. Poland told the selectmen about her decision during an executive session earlier in September.
“She will be missed,” Hanna said. “We’re very fortunate to have had her as long as we did. She’s done a lot, from organizing town finances to filling out grant applications, which has been very successful.”
Poland started in the town office in May 2001 and started as town administrator on July 1, 2002. As town administrator, she is responsible for the day-to-day management of town affairs.
Poland will serve out the rest of her contract, which expires Dec. 31, 2016, Hanna said.
The selectmen have reached out to the Maine Municipal Association about contracting with MMA to search for a new town administrator, Hanna said.
