The State Fire Marshal’s Office has announced the victim in the fatal fire in Bristol Dec. 9, 2012 set the blaze herself.
According to Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland, investigators have determined that 69-year-old Lynn Ring used gasoline to set the fire after an argument with her husband.
The garage contained her husband’s late model Mercedes Benz convertible. After setting the car on fire, Ring became trapped inside the garage, which is where her body was found, according to McCausland.
Ring’s husband, John Ring, was outside the garage when the fire started and suffered minor burns to his hands.
The fire at 16 Oceanside Ln., in New Harbor destroyed the garage, but firefighters stopped the blaze from consuming the attached house. The couple did not drive and the car was a source of frequent arguments between the two, according to McCausland.
