When voting closed on Monday, Sept. 25, a Bristol woman had won the September #LCNme365 photo contest by just one vote.
Kristin Orne snapped the photo of a double rainbow over a barn in Bristol earlier this month following a recent downpour. She was on her way to dinner with a friend when she spotted the scene and was encouraged by her friend to stop and take a picture.
Photography is a hobby for Orne, who shoots with both a Canon and her iPhone. On this particular day, she had her iPhone.
She posted the photo on her Facebook page, where it drew numerous likes and comments, including suggestions to enter the photo in a contest. Having previously entered the #LCNme365 contest, Orne decided to submit her photo via email.
Friends and family were very supportive when the photo was chosen by judges as the week’s winner, Orne said. Many shared the link to vote in the monthly contest.
In addition to having her photo featured on the front page of The Lincoln County News, Orne will receive a $50 gift certificate from September’s contest sponsor, Renys, of Damariscotta.
As the ninth monthly winner, Orne cannot win another weekly or monthly contest in 2017, but she can still submit photos for inclusion in the weekly slideshow of entries at lcnme.com.
Orne’s photo will compete against the other 11 monthly winners at the end of the year as voters select the winner for 2017.
Submissions are now being accepted for the October #LCNme365 contest. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate from the monthly sponsor, Split Rock Distilling, of Newcastle.
