Moody’s Diner on Rt. 1 in Waldoboro was closed from about 7 p.m. July 31 until Aug. 3. The closure was due to their well pump breaking.
The pump broke Saturday night, and Hatch Well Drillers found them a new pump and installed it Sunday morning.
“We thank God for the prompt attention that Hatch Well Drillers gave to us,” reads a notice in the restaurant explaining the closure.
After the pump had been replaced, there were several chemical treatments and water tests that needed to be completed before the well could be used.
“There were a lot of people who were like, ‘Oh God, Moody’s is closed,'” said Manager on Duty Judy Beck. “When it broke, we had a whole lobby full of people that we had tell that we couldn’t serve them.”
Once everything was complete and well was running again, the diner reopened around 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 3.
