A burglar or burglars broke into the Lincoln County Publishing Company the night of Aug. 26-27, stealing equipment and returnable cans from the Newcastle building.

The burglar or burglars stole two new Dell Latitude laptops and a Nikon D-1H camera with a spare lens from the newspaper and 50 large bags of bottles from the redemption center.
The Lincoln County News estimates the value of the camera and lenses at $5000 and the value of the laptops at $1800.
Standpipe Redemption places the retail value of the bags, which contain 324 cans apiece, at $27.54 each, for a total value of $1377. Standpipe pays $16.20 to fill each bag, so the total loss to the center is $2187.
The bags contain aluminum cans. Thirty-five bags contain beer cans; 15 Coke and Pepsi cans.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Bridgham is the investigating officer.
