During the Sunday snowstorm, a motor vehicle crashed into the corner of the home at 4 Old Sheepscot Rd. causing an estimated $10,000 damage to the structure and $5000 damage to the 2002 Subaru.
The driver, Andrew Hind, 28, of Alna, a citizen of the United Kingdom, was allegedly going too fast for the road conditions at the time of the accident around 3:50 p.m. Sunday, according to Lincoln County Dep. Chad Gilbert, investigating officer.
According to the registration, Myra Clunie of Damariscotta owns the Suburu, Gilbert reported.
The front bumper of Hind’s small station wagon struck the corner of the house, which John Gillis owns, damaging clapboards and pushing in the wall leaving a hole.
Gilbert said the house was built in the 1800s, and the owner has been restoring it to its original construction including the use of plaster for the interior wall since purchasing it. He said the whole wall would have to be taken out in order to repair the damage.
No injuries were reported and according to the Alna Fire Dept., no fire was detected nor any danger of one. Assistant Fire Chief Roger Whitney said the department arrived at the scene and left within 10-15 minutes after inspecting the scene.
